We help teachers excel so our children learn and grow, contributing to a knowledgeable society.
We build software that helps assess students' knowledge by combining deep knowledge of technology with a genuine understanding of teacher realities and classroom dynamics. Our goal is to amplify teachers' expertise by giving them the flexibility to assess and provide feedback the way they want to. While we serve many important stakeholders, success for us is when we are the teachers' preferred choice.
Teachiq was founded in 2015 by Erik Corell and Anders Torkelsson.
After a few years as a system developer, Erik switched to teaching mathematics. It was when he got his first class that he started building the product that is now KM.
As he began to see that colleagues could also be helped, he contacted Anders, a friend since school days with a background in business and product development. The idea for Teachiq was born from those conversations.
Both Erik and Anders are still active in Teachiq. Anders has been CEO since the start and Erik now mainly works on exploring new possible product areas related to mathematics.
The idea of building a company together took shape when Erik shared his experiences as a math teacher. In the conversations between him and Anders, it became clear that they both shared several fundamental values about schools, such as the view that the teacher role deserves a much higher status - both in the classroom and in society.
They both felt that it would be important and meaningful to work on improving the conditions for teachers and they felt a frustration that the tools being developed were not rooted in an understanding of how classrooms work. From these thoughts, Teachiq was founded, and the genuine desire to simplify teachers’ everyday lives is still the foundation we stand on.
